- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
- Topping: 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp melted butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly add milk and heavy cream, whisking until smooth. Cook 3–5 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in 2 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, mozzarella, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix until melted and creamy.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the sauce and stir to coat fully.
- Pour into the baking dish and top with remaining cheddar cheese.
- For a crunchy topping, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake 20–25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
