Description

Best Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese Sandwich combines tangy dill pickles with ooey-gooey cheddar for a crispy, crave-worthy twist on a classic. This quick, easy lunch or snack cooks in minutes on a skillet, with buttered bread, garlic powder, and optional cream cheese for extra creaminess. Perfect for weeknights, movie nights, or picnics, it delivers bold flavor, melty texture, and a satisfying bite in every slice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sliced dill pickles, patted dry
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 2 tbsp cream cheese for extra creaminess

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder.
  3. Place 4 slices of bread butter-side down in the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over the bread, add dill pickle slices, and optional cream cheese if using.
  5. Top with remaining cheese, then cover with the remaining bread slices butter-side up.
  6. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
  7. Remove from skillet, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat the pickles dry to prevent extra moisture from steaming the sandwich.
  • For extra creaminess, add the optional cream cheese.
  • Cook over medium heat to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
  • Try pepper jack or mozzarella for a different melt and heat level.
  • Let the sandwich rest for a minute before slicing for clean cuts.
