Description
Brown Sugar Butter Cookies: Rich, chewy and irresistibly buttery with a deep caramel flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
- Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked.
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Brown sugar gives these cookies a rich caramel flavor and chewy texture.
- For slightly crisper edges, bake a bit longer; for softer centers, bake closer to 9 minutes.
- Use packed brown sugar for best results.
- Chill the dough for 15-20 minutes if you prefer firmer cookies.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
