Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup oats
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup store-bought halal caramel sauce or homemade

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine crust ingredients until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  3. While crust bakes, prepare cheesecake layer: beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, toss apples with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix streusel ingredients with a fork until crumbly.
  6. After crust is done, pour cheesecake mixture over it. Top with the apple layer, then sprinkle with streusel.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the center is set.
  8. Cool completely, then drizzle with caramel sauce before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Line pan with parchment for easy removal and cleanup.
  • Chill the bars before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • To prevent browning, toss apples with a little lemon juice before using.
  • Store leftovers chilled in the fridge for up to 3 days.
