Ingredients
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Instructions
- In the bread machine pan, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Add bread flour, salt, and softened butter. Start the dough cycle to knead.
- When kneading is complete, sprinkle shredded cheese over the dough and let the machine mix it in.
- Allow the dough to rise in the machine until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Shape the risen dough into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Let the loaf rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 30‑35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a spicier loaf
- add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the cheese. Brush the top with melted butter before baking for extra shine.
