- 1 lb ground halal beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked
- 2 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or halal cream substitute)
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add onion and garlic, sauté 2–3 minutes until soft.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked meat mixture, uncooked rice, broth, cream of mushroom soup, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top, and bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and rice is tender.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.

- Can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup.
