Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb pasta (linguine or spaghetti)
- 2 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
- Heat olive oil and 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt remaining butter and add garlic. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and simmer for 2–3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, cooking until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Add cooked pasta and shrimp back to the skillet, tossing to coat. Add reserved pasta water if needed.
- Finish with lemon juice, garnish if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency as needed.
- Red pepper flakes are optional for a touch of heat.
- Parsley garnish adds color and freshness.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream and reduce butter slightly.
