Description
Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks: A quick, weeknight-friendly twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak using seasoned ground beef, caramelized onions, bell peppers, and melty cheese served on a toasted hoagie roll.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
- 8 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella for a stretchier melt)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell pepper, sauté until soft and caramelized, about 8–10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooked onions and peppers.
- Lower heat and place cheese slices over the beef mixture. Cover with a lid for 1–2 minutes, or until melted.
- Toast hoagie rolls if desired. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture into each roll.
- Serve hot with your favorite sides or chips.
Notes
- Try mozzarella for a stretchier melt.
- Omit peppers for a simpler version.
- Use gluten-free rolls if needed and available (note: this may change flavor and texture).
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated.
