Description

Honey BBQ Chicken Rice is a savory, 4-serving skillet dish where juicy chicken is glazed in a sticky honey BBQ sauce over fluffy rice.


Ingredients

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup halal BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • Chopped green onions or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
  3. In a bowl, mix honey and BBQ sauce. Pour over chicken and cook for another 3–4 minutes, letting the sauce bubble and thicken.
  4. Remove chicken, slice or shred as desired.
  5. Serve over warm rice, spooning extra sauce on top. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken thighs with breasts, but thighs stay juicier.
  • Adjust honey to taste for sweeter or milder sauce.
  • For a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce a little longer before returning the chicken to the pan.
