Perfect for Christmas gatherings, cookie platters, and cozy winter moments, it’s a simple, delicious bake the whole family will love. The recipe uses a 5-ingredient dough and a smooth eggnog ganache that sets to a glossy finish, making it ideal for gifting or sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips (for ganache)
  • ¼ cup eggnog (non-alcoholic)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients to form a soft dough.
  6. Roll dough into balls and roll lightly in cinnamon sugar if desired.
  7. Place on the baking sheet and press a thumbprint into the center of each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until set.
  9. While cookies cool, melt white chocolate and stir in eggnog until smooth.
  10. Spoon ganache into each thumbprint and allow to set before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the dough if it’s too soft for easier handling.
  • For extra flavor, dust the tops with a pinch more cinnamon before baking.
  • Let ganache fully set before stacking cookies on a platter.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Yields about 18 cookies.
